The territory of Cetinje covers an area of ~ 910 km², or ~ 6.6% of the total area of Montenegro. When it comes to the town itself, it is located on an area of ~ 6 km². According to the size of the territory, Cetinje is one of the larger units of local self-government in Montenegro. The territory of Cetinje includes two national parks: Lovćen and Skadar Lake.
The main objectives of this Sub-Project was to provide the Project Area with a wastewater treatment infrastructure in accordance with the national legislation and related EU directives. The Sub-Project is particularly significant in terms of groundwater and wider Skadar Lake catchment protection, bearing in mind that the Project shall effectively stop discharging of untreated wastewater into the karstic area – groundwater draining towards Skadar Lake.
Based on the available documentation, the WWTP location was to be confirmed, the wastewater quantities and accordingly the correct dimensioning of the sewers were to be verified, the CBA was to be updated as well as the Preliminary/ Conceptual Design was to be updated/ elaborated.
